Professional Staff Position
Title: Early Childhood (Preschool) Teacher
Qualifications: Valid Missouri Certification in appropriate areas of Early Childhood/Elementary Education
Reports to: Early Childhood Learning Center Principal
Job Goal: To provide preschool students with experiences which will help them become enthusiastic learners__activities will be focused on social, emotional, cognitive, and physical areas of development.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Develops long-range planning with regard to Core Academic Standards, district curriculum, the program’s philosophy, and goals.
- Plans, prepares, and implements a curriculum aligned to state standards that is appropriate for the age level, skill and social development of the group of children served.
- Uses instructional techniques, methods, and materials that best contribute to learning the desired subject matter, skills, attitudes, and values. Teachers are expected to acquaint themselves with the latest effective school research on instructional techniques and become trained in technology to further engage students.
- Supervises and interacts with the children in all areas of the program, outdoors, and during field trips.
- Maintains an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience throughout the school day.
- Demonstrates familiarity with and adherence to the program’s policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures, and preparedness to implement these if necessary.
- Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences. Provides appropriate communication in staff meetings and assists in designing appropriate training opportunities for staff.
- Be an advocate for improvement of early childhood education and for improving the program.
- Maintains an open, friendly, and professional relationship with all families.
- Plans enrollment and screening dates and informs district patrons (flyers, posters, newspaper advertisements).
- Partakes in all staff related activities that focus on building and district professional growth.
- Develops a professional development plan to be reviewed annually by teacher and administrator.
- Other duties, not specifically mentioned above, may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or Building Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by Board Policy
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy
